Cambridge United Football Club
Cambridge United launch their new £3.2m training facility, complete with a Klargester Rainwater Harvesting system and twin pump stations.
After many years of planning and a six month build schedule, Cambridge United have officially launched their new £3.2m training facility. Equipped with changing rooms, gym, catering kitchen and more the building replaces old portacabins to create a professional environment suitable for the development of the players.
When approached by main contractors CB Groundworks, Klargester were delighted to be involved in this project, providing initial design, manufacturing, delivery, site installation support and commissioning of the products provided.
Working with accredited installers is very important to Klargester and we were delighted to work with CB Groundworks on this project. A comment from the Director on the project:
"We at CB Groundworks were honoured to be the chosen contractor for the new Cambridge United football club training ground. The building is constructed to BREEAM - excellence which could only be achieved with the help of supply chains like Klargester."
Klargester are a company we have worked with on many projects. Their in-house technical team and design team helped make this project the success that it is with their highly valued expertise. It is always a pleasure to work with them, with exceptional communication, experience, and knowledge from start to finish. We personally wouldn’t use anyone else and very much look forward to our next project together.
Kev Johnston, Director of CB Groundworks & Construction Ltd

Our in-house technical team specified several Klargester products to meet the demands of the new training facility. To meet the sites requirements around sustainability, the Klargester technical team specified and supplied a 22,000 litre rainwater harvesting system with integrated smart Grundfos high pressure pumps to service the toilet facilities.
The Grundfos intelligent pump has the necessary sensors to allow automatic operation when demand is called for by the drop of pressure in the system. If the storage tank has a low level of rainwater, there is a small automatic charge of mains water into the tank to ensure the system never runs dry. The main advantage of this system is that rainwater is reliably delivered to the training facilities toilets at mains pressure or higher.
To support the Rainwater Harvesting system, the Klargester technical team specified a bespoke twin pump station, fitted with Grundfos pumps designed to remove the overflow water from the RWH system at a controlled rate off site.
Finally, a second twin pump station, fitted with robust Grundfos grinder pumps was designed to take all the sewage waste off site to the main sewer connection 600m from the training facility. The vertical specifications of the AquaPump range are ideal for developments where drainage by gravity is not an option.
Working with CB Groundworks, we are delighted to see the Klargester products in place and the training facilities in use by the Cambridge United Team.
