Loch Insh Water Sports Centre
Klargester bespoke Commercial Treatment Plant installed in the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains.
Loch Insh sits in the foothills of the Cairngorm Mountains, at the lower end of Glen Feshie. Here, the River Spey widens to form Loch Insh, creating the perfect setting for young and old to enjoy a wide range of sports in safety.
Glen Feshie represents one of the most dramatic examples of rewilding in the UK. It is a beautiful, wild glen with its upper reaches clothed with some of the most magnificent Scots pinewoods in Scotland. A natural and unspoilt wonderland for everyone to explore.
The Klargester team were contacted by the centre late 2021 to arrange a free site visit to review and establish the best drainage system to serve the popular water sports destination. To date the centre had used a septic tank system, however after reviewing needed to upgrade immediately.
With a high footfall, varying seasonal conditions and a failing septic tank, it was vital for the Klargester team to offer a long term packaged solution that covered the needs of the centre but also protecting pollution prevention within the surrounding area.

Scott Spence, local Area Sales Manager visited the site and having assessed the needs of the Water Sports Centre proposed the site would benefit from; one Airlift Tank to discharge into two bespoke Klargester BioDisc commercial sewage treatment plants, followed by a UV disinfection unit to discharge into Loch Insh.
Designed with the knowledge of 70 years’ experience and fully compliant with EN 12255 standards, the Klargester Large BioDisc range offers the lowest lifetime running costs in the market. Offering silent operation, odour free performance and affordable running costs the unique design of the Klargester commercial BioDisc plants where the ideal solution for the idyllic water centre.
Planning an installation of commercial sewage treatment plants requires a great level of planning and detail and for this project we worked with renowned contractor, Spey Building & Joinery. The team have won many prestigious awards including RIBA house of the year 2018, Scottish master builder new home award 2019 and Federation of master builders new home awards 2019 to name but a few.
The treatment plant is a long-term solution for the Water Sports Centre and will effectively cope with disposing, high-quality effluent waste into the surrounding grounds.
