The series has followed property expert Sarah, her husband Graham Swift and their four sons as they build a new home on a former dairy farm in Somerset, surrounded by 220 acres of farmlWorking with the DIY SOS The Big Build Ireland team, Klargester was proud to donate a BioFicient Sewage Treatment Plant and small pump station to the latest DIY SOS Big Build project to be televised.

Featured on RTE 1 on Sunday, 25th October, the episode showcased an incredible building project from the presenter, Baz Ashmawy, and his team of volunteers for Tipperary woman, Sinead Barry and her family.

Sinead’s husband, Michael (34), tragically passed away after a very short battle with cancer whilst self-building their dream home. For five years, Michael had been self-building their house, and when he fell ill and sadly passed away in March 2019, the home was unfinished.

Baz and the team from DIY SOS The Big Build Ireland stepped up to help complete the new build last year, creating an incredible family home for Sinead and her three young children. 

Hundreds of people volunteered for the build and Klargester among other manufacturers gladly volunteered their time, services and products. Klargester, partnering with Mitchell Environmental, provided and installed a BioFicient Sewage Treatment Plant and a small pump station. This challenge was to ensure Sinead’s home had a trusted and reliable wastewater management solution, that was energy-efficient and cost-effective to run, that required minimal maintenance which the Klargester BioFicient sewage treatment plant guarantees.

“To be able to contribute to this build and help the DIY SOS team to deliver a dream home for the Barry family was an honour.  We were only too delighted to provide a Klargester Sewage Treatment Plant and worked with Gordon Mitchell from Mitchell Environmental - a Klargester Accredited Installer - on the installation of the product,” explains Stephen Murphy, Commercial Manager Ireland and UK, from Klargester.

Using a superior domestic sewage treatment plant from Klargester, Mitchell Environmental managed the excavation and installation process.  The team encountered bedrock/shale during the excavation, however, they worked to ensure the correct levels were in place, and the installation of the sewage system went to plan, within a tight timeframe.
